Students. Opportunity. Community.

A stronger SBCC builds a brighter Santa Barbara.

"Santa Barbara City College changed my life.

It gave me the opportunity to retain, find a new path, and discover a deeper purpose in public service. I'm running for Trustee to help ensure students in our community have access to that same opportunity."  -Dominique Lujan

Inspired by Opportunity, Driven to Serve

I am running for the Santa Barbara City College Board of Trustees because our community deserves a college that puts local students first while remaining innovative, fiscally responsible, and committed to academic excellence.

I know the importance of affordable higher education and job
training firsthand. When Artificial Intelligence eroded my previous career, SBCC gave me training to become a certified counselor and reenter the workforce with a new purpose: public service.

As AI and emerging technologies reshape our economy, SBCC must prepare students and working adults for fulfilling careers through workforce education, expanded bachelor’s degree programs, and partnerships with local employers.

I will support responsible, long-term solutions to improve access and services for local students, maintain fiscal discipline, and carefully explore future opportunities for student housing.

I will always support SBCC’s Adult Education programs/School of Extended Learning which provide critical education, career development, enrichment, and life skills to people of all ages.

I will lead with integrity, listen to our community, and preserve SBCC’s outstanding reputation as an institution that changes lives and strengthens our community and local economy.

I would be honored to have your vote to help City College serve Santa Barbara effectively for generations to come.

Priorities for SBCC

Student Success & Access

I want to make sure students can afford to attend college and have the resources and support they need to stay enrolled, achieve their goals, and succeed, including addressing barriers such as housing, healthcare, mental health services, childcare, and food insecurity.

Responsible Investment in SBCC’s Future

I will support responsible fiscal stewardship while protecting the programs and services students depend on. I also want to expand educational opportunities, including workforce training, transfer pathways, and bachelor’s degree programs that prepare students for a changing economy.

An Inclusive and Equitable Campus

I want SBCC to be a place where every student feels safe, respected, and able to succeed regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, immigration status, disability, or economic circumstances. That includes protecting access to healthcare and supporting policies that promote dignity, privacy, and equal opportunity.

Invested in Santa Barbara's future

Building a stronger SBCC means investing in our students, supporting educational opportunities, and strengthening our community.
